Kai-Axel Aanderud

The founder (born in 1958) has post graduate degrees in History, Political Science and Economics from the Universities of Kiel, Oslo and Heidelberg. His first position as a journalist was with the German TV station ZDF where he worked in the editorial offices of the departments „Contemporary History“, „News” as well as “Foreign Relations”. Then he attended the first year of the renowned institute „Journalistenschule Axel Springer“ and worked for the newspapers „Welt am Sonntag“ and „Bild“ as well as the TV-station „SAT.1“. After finishing a management trainee program he advanced to Head Office of the Axel Springer Publishing Group. Within the Bauer Media Group he was responsible for the electronic media division (TV broadcasting and production, radio and internet). In the Ganske Publishing Group he worked as Managing Director of a weekly newspaper.

The son of a Norwegian father and a German mother founded his own agency in 1999. He specialized in networking for companies and institutions in Germany, Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

Aanderud is also a published author. Working as an editor for the Axel Springer Verlag in Berlin, directly at the wall inspired him to write what became a standard work about this dark chapter of German history: „Die eingemauerte Stadt. Die Geschichte der Berliner Mauer“. Willy Brandy the former chancellor and mayor of West-Berlin when the wall was built in 1961 commented favourably about his perspective and insightful interpretation. The reviewer from the newspaper „Die Welt“ was similarly generous, praising the book as illuminating and filling a long felt void.

Aanderud is member of the Norwegian Economic Council for Germany, chairman of the „Peer Gynt Club“ (www.peer-gynt.org), with its 100 member-companies the largest German-Norwegian business network, and finally member of the Advisory Council of „The Norse Federation“ (www.norseman.no) founded in 1907 by Nobel prize laureate Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson.
